Miriam Karam practices in the firm’s Credit Trading & Investing department, and specializes in Distressed Debt & Claims Trading, Structured Transactions and Special Situations. Ms. Karam frequently advises investment banks, broker dealers and other financial institutions, including hedge funds on the trading of domestic and international syndicated bank loans, debt instruments and distressed assets, in particular insolvency claims and post-reorganization equity. Ms. Karam represents clients and is regularly involved in cross-border transactions throughout Europe and the United States..
Ms. Karam has extensive experience in the review and analysis of credit documentation of both investment grade and non-investment grade borrowers in a variety of sectors and specializes in the LMA and LSTA secondary trading documentation. Ms. Karam represents clients on the purchase and sale of par and distressed loans and bonds of borrowers domiciled in the UK, US, Asia and Europe including France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Ms. Karam also advises clients in connection with claims trading and investment in cases that included, among others, Lehman, MF Global and has extensive experience representing the creditors of the insolvent Icelandic banks. more +
Ms. Karam recently completed a secondment to J.P. Morgan Asset Management as part of the Global Special Situations group. Prior to that, she was seconded to the Secondary Loan Trading desk of J.P. Morgan Bank in London.
Ms. Karam is a member of the Loan Market Association (LMA) and also serves as a member of the firm’s Diversity Committee and Associate Business Development Committee.
